Our strategy
EIT Water’s Start-Up Plan for 2026 lays the foundation for becoming Europe’s leading innovation community tackling urgent water, marine, and maritime challenges. During this start-up year, we are focused on building our governance, setting up eight regional hubs, and engaging partners across Europe to co-create our first Strategic Agenda (2027–2032). This agenda will guide our long-term priorities in education, innovation, and business creation to accelerate systemic water solutions.

Our timeline for 2026 includes workshops, partner consultations, and expert input to ensure the Strategic Agenda is robust and aligned with regional and European needs. This foundational work ensures we are ready to launch impactful programmes and funding calls from 2027 onwards, driving business growth, skills development, and breakthrough innovations within a competitive European water ecosystem.
