EIT Water reveals Co-Location Centres across Europe

The new Knowledge and Innovation Community EIT Water, headquartered in Denmark, will operate through a network of regional Co-Location Centres (CLCs). These centres bring together partners, expertise and innovation ecosystems across Europe. Now, nine hosts of these locations are revealed.

EIT Water is building a pan-European innovation network through a series of regional Co-Location Centres (CLCs), designed to connect expertise, industry, and local ecosystems across the water sector.

Headquartered at Aarhus University in Denmark, the initiative will operate through nine regional hubs spanning Europe—from the Black Sea and Baltic regions to the UK, Iberia, and beyond. Each centre will focus on specific segments of the water, marine, and maritime landscape, creating a distributed but coordinated approach to innovation.

Backed by a €5 million старт-up grant and a consortium of 50 partners across 24 countries, EIT Water is shaping its strategic agenda around three core pillars: developing entrepreneurial skills, supporting business creation, and scaling innovation. This includes training programmes, accelerator support, and funding for pilot and demonstration projects.

With ambitions to attract significant long-term investment and talent, EIT Water is positioning itself as a central platform for driving collaboration, unlocking new insights, and turning innovation into real-world impact across Europe’s water sector.
